Welcome to our November 2019 Edition of The Assistant

Happy November everyone. November feels like a month that doesn't get the love of other months. It is a bridge to December, and it seems to be a month that is over before it even starts as we get stuck into finishing projects, with one on eye on the looming Christmas break. I hope we all had fun at the Melbourne Cup, even if you struggled to pick a winner, hopefully you got to let your down and have a glass of bubbly with your colleagues.

In the last month we have seen a huge demand for our short courses, with great interest from right around the country from eager students looking to upskill in various parts of their role. We have had a great response to our brand new 1 Day Event Symposium Class with the inaugural event to be held in Sydney on December 9th

14th & 15th October: Melbourne

We held our annual Melbourne Conference & Exhibition mid – October – our last one for the 2019 series and it certainly ended on a high. The 2 days provided insight and knowledge to our group of attendees with some fabulous keynote speakers and panel members. Guests enjoyed the array of exhibitors and certainly laughed and had some fun at the Gala Dinner. Again a huge thanks to all those who attended, we strive in assuring our conference series are relative and current for the EA Role. We look forward to bringing the 2020 Conference & Exhibition Series.

We are very excited to have launched the brand new conference theme for 2020, which kicks off in Sydney in March. Next Year's theme is 'The Human Executive Assistant - Combining your head and heart with your skills and knowledge to deliver the key intangible benefits in the EA role'. 

We also held the first of our brand new 2 Day Strategic Partnership Course in Adelaide and we were blown away by the atmosphere as the EAs in attendance made it an event to remember.

How to manage working with an executive overseas

If your Executive travels a lot you might find you spend more time dealing with them in a different time zone than in the same office. This can make communication tricky, and requires you to come up with a few ways of communicating effectively. Here are three tips:

1) Make your written writing exceptionally clear - Specify your subject more often than not, as words like 'it', 'they' and 'that' make it hard to keep up with which thought or idea you're commenting on. Also, try splitting all your emails into sections so your Executive can deal with each topic separately.
