Earn a Nationally Recognised Qualification in Project Management
Executive Assistant Academy are introducing a new program designed specifically for Executive Assistants who want to develop greater Project Management acumen, whilst earning a Nationally recognised qualification - BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice.
Creative Vision Training, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 46013), have developed a unique training course specifically for EANs members, focused on Project Management Practices within the Executive Assistant and Executive Support role.
Project Management is a skill all EAs are required to utilise, yet rarely do they receive training in this field. EAN's course will equip EAs with the knowledge and skills to create and manage organisational projects efficiently and effectively using worldwide standards and project management frameworks.
The course materials are contextualised specifically for the Executive Assistant role and their unique organisational challenges.
Delivered over a 12-month period, the training will use a combination of remote learning sessions, online learning materials and assessments.
It will award you with a BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice, and you will meet the requirements to seek certification with the Project Management Institute as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
Our course will provide you with:
More highly refined project creation, implementation and management skills
Fill the gaps in your current knowledge
Develop all aspects of your current project outcomes
Award you with a Nationally Recognised Qualification
Provide additional career progression and opportunities
Gain recognition and formalise many of the skills you currently utilise
From this we can arrange a teams/zoom or phonecall to answer your questions in detail.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: Why should an Executive Assistant complete this course?
A: The role of an EA is evolving. By gaining project management skills, you’ll expand your ability to lead initiatives, speak the language of project teams, and operate at a more strategic level. Whether you’re coordinating conferences, implementing systems, or driving operational change, this course gives you the structure, confidence, and credential to take your contributions further. It also prepares you for emerging challenges and increases your long-term employability.
Q2: What qualification will I receive?
A: Graduates receive the BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice, a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework. It’s issued by our Registered Training Organisation (RTO 46013), Creative Vision Training.
Q3: Is this course tailored for EAs or just a general project course?
A: This course is exclusively contextualised for the Executive Assistant profession. Rather than learning construction or IT projects, you’ll engage with EA-relevant case studies—such as stakeholder planning for a senior executive offsite, risk management for major event logistics, and compliance frameworks used in professional services.
Q4: How does this course prepare me for the future of work?
A: Reports from the World Economic Forum and Jobs and Skills Australia suggest that traditional administrative roles are contracting while demand for project-based roles is growing. This course helps future-proof your career by developing highly transferable skills in a growth area, positioning you to adapt and thrive as workplace demands evolve. It also provides a pathway into alternative roles, such as project administration or coordination.
Delivery & Learning Format
Q5: How is the course structured and delivered?
A: The course is completed over 12 months and includes:
Online self-paced modules
Live virtual sessions (fortnightly at first, then monthly)
Workplace-applied assessments
Recorded content for on-demand review
We divide the course into three semesters, each focusing on three units. You’ll complete nine nationally recognised units in total, combining both core and elective topics.
Q6: Is there a fixed schedule or is it flexible?
A: There’s flexibility. While modules are released on a standard timeline (starting 1st March), live sessions are designed to suit students' availability. Recordings are available if you miss a session, and assessments can be submitted progressively. Individual learning needs can be accommodated upon request.
Q7: How much time will I need to commit?
A: Most students spend around 10 hours per month on course work, including assessments. Content is structured to integrate with your existing work—allowing you to use real-life EA projects as evidence. The course is designed to be achievable alongside full-time work.
Q8: What support will I receive?
A: You’ll be supported by:
An experienced trainer (David Thomson) who understands EA roles
RTO guidance from Creative Vision Training
Email and Zoom-based Q&A sessions
Peer discussions during live webinars
Additional one-on-one sessions can be arranged where required.
Enrolment, Pricing, and Recognition
Q9: What is the cost of the course?
A: The full course fee is AUD $3,950, with no GST applicable. This is payable either:
Upfront, or via a payment plan: typically $1,500 / $1,500 / $950
We can invoice organisations directly, and arrangements can be made to split invoices across financial years if needed.
Q10: Can my employer sponsor the course?
A: Absolutely. This is our preferred approach, as employers will benefit greatly from investing in their EAs. EAN can provide a course outline, unit structure, and business case summary to support internal approval. Flexible payment and invoicing options are available.
Q11: Is government funding available?
A: No. The Federal Skills and Training Incentive for over-40s concluded on 30 June 2024. All current enrolments are self-funded or supported by employers.
Q12: Will this qualify me for project-based roles?
A: Yes. Many graduates leverage this course to transition into Project Coordinator, Project Administrator, or Business Support roles with a strategic focus. It’s also excellent preparation for pursuing PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification if desired.
Q13: What project management methodology is taught?
A: The primary framework is Waterfall, as outlined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). While Agile principles are briefly introduced, this is not an Agile certification course. The focus remains on traditional structured methodologies used in business, professional services, and government environments.
Q14: Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?
A: Yes. If you have relevant workplace experience or prior learning, you may be eligible for RPL. Applications are handled by Creative Vision Training after enrolment, and credits may reduce your assessment load.
Enrolment Process and Next Steps
Q15: When does the next intake begin?
A: The next cohort begins on June 2025. Enrolments are now open, and places are limited to ensure a high-quality learning experience.
Q16: Will there be additional intakes later in the year?
A: Another 2025 intake may be offered depending on demand and capacity. However, the June intake is the only confirmed opportunity in 2025. We recommend early registration to secure your place.
