With Winter solstice behind us the days will slowly to start to get longer as we focus on a big second half of the year. Here at EAN, another successful EOFY membership sale has come and gone and we say thank you to the hundreds of members who took advantage of this yearly sale. 

The next stop in our Masterclass Conference series takes us to Canberra in July, and early signs indicate that lots of our Canberra friends will be joining us.  We are also taking registrations for our Brisbane conference in September, and at this early stage it is on track to be our biggest ever Brisbane event - keep up the good work Queensland. The Melbourne Program has just been released so check out the great line up of speakers coming to the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. We have a heap of new networking events around the country being added to the calendar as we speak, so keep an eye on the networking events page under the member resources section.

How to respond to negative feedback

Hearing negative feedback is almost always an uncomfortable experience. You're allowing yourself to be judged and it can often feel like the best way to deal with it is to ignore it. But if you want to be an EA that continuously improves throughout their career, you need to get used to hearing negative feedback and know how to respond to it. Here are 3 tips how:

1. Give yourself time

Don't jump straight back in response. Whether it's coming from your Executive or a subordinate, take a moment to really let the feedback sink in before responding. Whether this means asking for some time to consider what's been said or just holding your tongue for a few seconds before responding, just make sure you're not reacting negatively.

Seven Do’s and Don’ts for Professional Corporate Photos that get Noticed – for the right reasons

1. Do consider having a professional makeup artist who can create a fresh corporate hair and makeup look for you. Don’t come with your everyday look that you create in the mirror every morning.

2. Do dress conservatively for the picture and wear clothes that would be appropriate for your workplace. Do not wear sexy, form fitting, or revealing clothing for your corporate portrait.

3. Do dress in solid colours. Don’t wear heavy patterns as they can be distracting and become dated quickly. If you are light skinned do not wear white near your face, as it will make you look pale.
